Throughout my career serving multiple communities, I have seen firsthand the powerful role community foundations play in strengthening local philanthropy and quality of life.
A community foundation serves as a bridge between generous donors and the nonprofit organizations and civic projects that make a meaningful difference. It aligns charitable giving with real community needs, ensuring resources are directed where they can have the greatest impact.
Community foundations support nonprofits that operate on limited margins, while also advancing quality-of-life initiatives — scholarships, youth programs, cultural projects, beautification efforts, and other community-driven improvements — that would not otherwise be possible through municipal funding alone.

The Maize Community Foundation is a great partner of the Maize Police Department. In the fall of 2025, the foundation was instrumental in helping us with a fundraiser the MPD was organizing for Mr. Norfleet and his family. Mr. Norfleet was shot by a subject breaking into his car. The Maize Community Foundation stepped up by funding a bracelet sale and the foundation members helped with the silent auction as well. The Maize Community Foundation is not only a great partner but an organization that looks out for the well-being of the entire community.
Serving on the board of our Community Foundation is both an honor and a responsibility. I’ve seen firsthand how local generosity, guided with care and accountability, can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. I’m proud to be part of an organization that brings our community together to create lasting impact.
